Mediations of the non-human, the multiple and the dirty: some stories from curating. Lecture by Lars Bang Larsen.

Lars Bang Larsen is art historian, independent curator and writer. Among his exhibitions stand out “A History of Irritated Material” (Raven Row, London 2010), “The Society Without Qualities” (Tensta Konsthall, Estocolmo 2013) and “Reflections from Damaged Life” (Raven Row, London 2013). Recently he has been co-curator, with Gabi Ngcobo, Júlia Rebouças and Sofía Olascoaga, of the 32th São Paulo Biennial, “Incerteza viva” (11/09 to 11/12/2016). Bang Larsen has also co-curated “Populism” (Stedelijk Museum, Frankfurter Kunstverein and other institutions, 2005) and “La insurección invisible de Un Millón de Mentes” (Sala Rekalde, Bilbao 2005). Moreover, he was the curator of the Danish participation of the 26th São Paulo Biennial in 2004. Among his books are included “The Model: Palle Nielsen’s ‘A Model for a Qualitative Society’ (1968), published by MACBA, 2010; “Networks” (MIT Press / Whitechapel 2014); and “The Phantom of Liberty. Investigations in the Pedagogical Paradox” (co-edited with Hansen, Sternberg Press, 2014). In 2015 Bang Larsen launched his “Ensayos Seleccionados”, published by Casa Cruce Editores, Buenos Aires; and the anthology “El arte y la psicodelia”, published by Afterall and Koenig Books. A selections of his texts, “Arte y norma”, will be soon translated to Spanish by Cruce Casa Editores, 2016.
