La exposición Debaixo do Vulcão, por Hugo Canoilas, en exhibición en el Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporêna – Museu do Chiado, sirve de contexto para esta mesa redonda. La discusión se centrará en las prácticas contemporáneas respecto a la teoría, el arte y lo curatorial que cuestionan los modelos canónicos e institucionales en el arte, y en cómo estos pueden contribuir a la construcción de alternativas participatorias al los modelos actuales globales y especulativos en el sistema de producción y experiencia de eventos artísticos.

Durante el congreso, serán proyectada una selección de trabajos cinematográficos relevantes para la reflexión sobre la imaginería del museo.
